The cutting tooth is the replaceable wear element; its holder establishes the seating position on the casing shoe. The WS39 illustration shows the cutting profile and dimensioned views of the tooth body. Its holder has a different width and section, so tooth dimensions alone do not describe the installed assembly.

Similar widths and thicknesses do not establish interchangeability. The seat profile, pin engagement and mounted projection must match the shoe arrangement.
Distinguish tooth wear from a seating problem.
At the cutting end
Photograph the carbide edges and the supporting steel. Compare leading-edge wear, missing carbide and body erosion across teeth from different positions on the shoe. The location of the wear is more informative than a single overall photograph.
At the holder and retainer
Clean the seat before judging fit. Check whether the tooth sits fully home, whether the pin is correctly engaged and whether the holder or surrounding welds are worn. New teeth should be compared against the actual installed holder, including its service condition.
